2015+ CHEVY COLORADO OLD MAN EMU SUSPENSION KIT
SKU: OMECOLGLKSLThe OME engineer's initial evaluation of the new Chevrolet Colorado revealed a very firm, controlled ride when configured in the OE trim. This provided the opportunity to explore tuning for comfort and control in various loading scenarios.
OME’s newly developed range will provide a plush ride over both on-and off-road slow-speed terrain but still provide vehicle stability when a high-speed maneuver is required.
In order to accommodate vehicles with various loads, OME has developed a wide spectrum of strut and spring combinations to provide the industry-leading load-carrying ride comfort combination possible.
The newly-tuned strut resulted in a compliant yet controlled ride with particular improvement in isolation of small inputs and road texture as well as larger inputs from various speed bump profiles, potholes, and road features.
Springs: Factory geometry allows for a 1” lift and still maintains an adequate level of droop. Three spring options were chosen to cater to vehicles with factory bumper and with aftermarket bumper and winch setups.
Specific kits have been developed for both gas and diesel models. In addition, a 5mm trim packer is available to assist with the fine-tuning of ride heights and trimming the vehicle from side to side.
FRONT SUSPENSION Shock Absorbers: Two new rear shock absorbers have been developed with particular attention to controlling the vehicle both with and without payloads. Numerous combinations of valving were tested in order to determine the best possible spring and shock absorber combinations based on potential payload scenarios. As a result, the best possible configuration of ride comfort and vehicle control was achieved.
Rear Springs: The new Colorado leaf spring was designed with an emphasis on ride comfort with and without a payload which has led to two types of load-dependent leaf designs: • Medium loads (0lb to GVM, optimal performance at loads of 0-660lbs) • Heavy Load, constant 660lb (660lbs to GVM, optimal performance at loads of 660lbs plus) An optional Extra Leaf (XL) was developed to cater for expedition vehicle setups that are under a heavy constant load. Consideration was taken for the fitment of these aftermarket leaf springs as the front eye leaf spring bolt requires the removal of the fuel tank. To make fitment easier, a leaf spring bolt kit (FK91) is included in the selection guide. It is far quicker and easier to cut off the original bolt and fit the FK91 rather than removing the fuel tank.
Note: Each option included here is for a complete kit including front suspension, rear suspension, the trim packer, and the FK91 spring bolt.
